The last convention of the season, Spring State is highly anticipated due to the promising flood of mini-conventions that always precede it. Debates fire students up during the day, and night time activities such as mock trials followed by traditional JSA dances ease the intellect marking the end of the night. Everywhere in between students truly experience self government, witnessing the race to cover every legal inch of surrounding wall area with candidate campaign posters, while bearing buttons and trying to rally last minute votes. From the “Secret Ballot” chants to the annual Candidates’ Idol Competition, Spring State in the Mid-Atlantic State is all about electing our elected officials and understanding the value of each vote.
